Gong Xi Fa Cai
I know I’m a little late in sending my well wishes this time but this year has been quite a whirlwind. Chaos struck early when my grandma was hospitalized on the second day of the festivities. She had a fall while getting out of the car, and just like that, our family’s house-visiting plans turned into hospital-visiting instead. Thankfully, she’s doing much better now, though she’s in a leg cast for the time being. It was definitely an unexpected turn of events, but we were just grateful that it wasn’t anything more serious.
Despite the rocky start, I still put in the effort for our outfits this year, and I’m so glad I did! Xav and I went all in on a matching couple fit, which honestly turned out to be one of my best decisions. I wore the Blue Batik Charms Dania Padded Column Midi Dress from Dear Lyla, while Xav had on the Jayden Collar Shirt V2 (Blue Batik Charms) to match. I won’t lie, the price was a little painful, but the moment I saw the pattern, I was completely sold. The intricate batik print was just stunning, and the quality made it worth every cent. As for Xav? Well, he didn’t really have a say in it. He’s the kind of guy who would wear nothing but Uniqlo if I didn’t step in and pick out outfits for him, so this was entirely my decision.
For the second day, I switched things up and went with the Ashley Wrap Top (Royal Peranakan) paired with the Bree High Waist Shorts V2 (Oat), also from Dear Lyla, of course. Since I was already shopping there, I figured I might as well grab everything in one go instead of running around looking for different pieces. Xav wore the Dan Mandarin Collar Shirt (Royal Peranakan) with a simple pair of shorts, keeping things fuss-free as usual.
Now, here’s the little fun fact of the day, I decided to go braless and just used nipple stickers. And guess what? Even my mom didn’t notice! Honestly, that was a win in itself.
Even though this year didn’t go exactly as planned, I’m still grateful that my grandma was well.
