Last weekend, I joined Xav and his army buddies, along with their girlfriends, for a 2-day, 1-night trip to Kukup. The plan had been in the works since their national service days, and while I was initially hesitant, due to being unfamiliar with most of the group and not keen on sharing a room with strangers, I was tempted by the promise of good food and a jacuzzi.

All along, I had imagined Kukup as a beachside island with sandy shores, so I packed accordingly. However, it turned out to be a fishing village with no beaches and muddy water.
